The legal team of Douglass Simon Solicitors consists of experienced senior solicitors, who, complimented by junior solicitors and dedicated support staff, provide a wide range of services within the areas of expertise of Douglass Simon Solicitors.


Lira Simon Cabatbat

The Senior Partner and founder of the firm, Ms Lira Simon Cabatbat, has two decades of experience in her main areas of interests, namely Immigration and Family law. Ms Cabatbat leads the Immigration team of Douglass Simon Solicitors. As an immigration practitioner also specialising in Human Rights law, where case-law has in the last five years alone been complex and far reaching, Ms Cabatbat has represented clients of different nationalities and from all walks of life since commencing practice in 1997. Ms Cabatbat's media work comprises of participation in television documentaries and writing articles for national and local news. She regularly takes part in public speaking events providing updates in Immigration law. Ms Cabatbat is a fluent Tagalog (Filipino) speaker.


Ms Cabatbat is an experienced Family solicitor and is an accredited Resolution Specialist Family Lawyer with specialism in Children Law and Domestic Abuse.  Ms Cabatbat leads the Family Team consisting of experienced and dedicated Family practitioners.


The inter-play between Immigration and Family Law has served Ms Cabatbat well as both areas have increasingly seen an amalgamation of principles particularly with regard the Human Rights Act.


Haroon Khan

Mr. Haroon Khan is a Partner at Douglass Simon and leads our employment team.  He specialises in all areas of Employment law and Immigration law & Nationality. Mr. Khan qualified as a Solicitor in 2008 having previously trained with Douglass Simon.  Mr Khan has been managing our Earls Court branch since 2008 and he was offered and accepted Partnership in 2014.


Mr. Khan has extensive experience in all aspects of Employment law both contentious and non-contentious issues including tribunal litigation. He provides assistance in Human Resources matters such as drafting employment documentation, advising on strategic HR issues, redundancies, reorganisations and outsourcing.


Mr. Khan has represented clients in Immigration and Nationality covering all aspects including appeals to Tribunals and the High Court.


Mr. Khan provides corporate assistance in various areas including Points Based System applications and employment disputes. He is a fluent speaker of Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.



Jordana Adams

Ms Jordana Adams is an Associate Solicitor at Douglass Simon.  She is also a non-practicing barrister with a LLB in Law with french and a LLM in Public International Law. She previously worked at the International Criminal Court in The Hague and is a specialist in European and human rights law. Jordana qualified as a solicitor in 2013 having returned to the United Kingdom to successfully complete her training in the areas of immigration, family and conveyancing law. She joined the immigration department of our firm in August 2015.


Ms Adams has dealt with a broad range of immigration applications including work, student and family visas for leave to remain and indefinite leave to remain, as well as British Citizenship applications. Her specialist knowledge of international law is regularly applied to EEA and human rights based applications.  Ms Adams is an accredited SRA level 2 immigration and asylum senior caseworker and regularly volunteers as an adviser for Rights of Women and Toynbee Hall. She is also fluent in French.  



Davide Riccardi 

Mr Riccardi is a Trainee Solicitor at Douglass Simon and he assists in our Immigration, Family and Probate departments. He graduated with a first-class equivalent degree in Politics and International Relations at the “Orientale” University of Naples. During his last year of study and after graduation he gained valuable work experience in the British Consulate in Naples and in the Italian Embassy in Libya.


Mr Riccardi joined Douglass Simon in February 2013. Whilst working for Douglass Simon's support team Mr Riccardi obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law with Commendation at the University of Law in Guildford and he was promoted to a paralegal position within the firm in May 2015. In light of his dedication to the firm and competent work, Mr Riccardi was offered and accepted a training contract with Douglass Simon in September 2016 and he is currently undertaking the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law in Guildford. Mr Riccardi is also a fluent Italian speaker. 



Shavin Fernando

Mr. Shavin Fernando joined Douglass Simon in September 2016 as a Legal Assistant. Mr. Fernando has a LLB in Law and is currently partaking his Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Guildford.


He will be assisting Ms Cabatbat the senior Partner with all Immigration and Family matters. Mr. Fernando also has a wealth of experience in residential conveyancing having previously worked at a conveyancing firm before joining Douglass Simon. He is also fluent in Sinhalese, the native language in Sri Lanka.
